Another week has flown by and the baby (and my belly) just keep getting bigger. Baby girl's weight is up to 3 pounds and she is over 15 1/2 inches long. She is still working on improving her eyesight, growing her brain, and getting her lungs ready for the outside world.
I still feel like most of my weight gain has been in my belly, and I haven't had any swelling or other complications so far. I get a little sore sometimes in my lower abs after working out but it has gotten better over time. Folks at work have been very supportive and are always asking for updates on how big the baby is now and how I am doing. I am thankful that the pregnancy has been smooth enough to allow me to continue with my daily routines with only minor modifications. I still made it to the gym three times and had a nice chat with another woman in my zumba class last week about how the baby liked the class (answer: she doesn't move around much during the class because I am moving, but is still pretty active other times). She continues to kick and move strongly and seems healthy.
We had our hospital tour last weekend and were pleased with the rooms (all private) and the general feel, plus we got to see some cute babies sleeping in the nursery, which was exciting. We are off to Childbirth prep class at the hospital today, and have another OB appointment on Monday. Time is flying and it is great that things are going so well!
Enjoying medical school, working parenting, and our first home with our new baby!

Pregnancy: Week 29
Time is flying here in pregnancy-land! Baby girl is now weighing in at 2 1/2 lbs and is over 15 inches in length, or about the size of a butternut squash! She is continuing to work on strengthening her muscles and lungs and packing on weight.
I am continuing to feel pretty good. Baby girl is active and I can still see her movements regularly. I have a little soreness in my lower abdomen that is a little annoying when I am walking around a lot, but that is my biggest concern, which seems pretty good for 29 whole weeks of pregnancy. I am still working out, although I have only gotten in two workouts so far this week. The number of shirts I can wear is starting to shrink as some of my non-maternity shirts are getting too short to cover the maternity panels on pants and skirts, so I was happy to find the shirt pictured above in my closet, on loan from my friend Rachel!
We are going on our hospital tour this weekend and as the weeks tick down, it feels like time is going fast and our little one will be here before we know it. We are doing our best to get ready for her and can't wait to meet her!

Pregnancy: Week 28
A day late but here is this week's update. The first week of the third trimester has gone well. Baby girl is now 2 1/4 pounds, or the size of a chinese cabbage, and 14.8 inches in length. This week she began to blink her eyes and may be sensitive to light on the outside. There is also a lot of growth happening in her brain and she is working on plumping up.
I am still feeling good and I went to the doctor this week again. I had to do the glucose tolerance test but I felt fine and should have my results next week. The doctor said I continue to measure on target for my due date and we got to hear baby girl's heartbeat, which is strong. I am managing to work out, although I only went three times this week due to Labor Day. Our little peanut is still moving around a lot, especially after dinner, and I can now see my stomach move consistently as well as feel it.
We picked up a bookcase for the nursery at Ikea and I managed to put it together today:
More pictures to come when it is actually where it belongs in the room. Plus, I got some material for a craft project for the nursery too...I will share when I actually have some progress, but here is the lovely fabric for now:
That is all the news for now--time is flying and we have a lot to do before this little one actually shows up!

Pregnancy: Week 27
The last week of the second trimester has gone smoothly and I am thankful for feeling healthy and energetic as all the websites are warning me that this will be the end of the 'honeymoon' trimester. Our little peanut has topped the two-pound mark and is now the size of a head of cauliflower. She is up over 14 1/2 inches in length from head to toe. According to the emails, her brain is continuing to develop and is becoming more active. She is still working on breathing movements in her lungs, is opening and closing her eyes, and possibly sucking on her fingers. She also has periods of sleeping and waking, and has developed a routine of being very active in the mid morning and after dinner if I am sitting quietly.
I am still feeling good and have been able to stay on track with my workout routine, and still feel like I have the same amount of energy for the gym. I wore the dress pictured above yesterday and had one new family I am working with be all excited since they felt I was clearly pregnant, while another woman in the waiting room (who I don't work with) at a different time, saw me and said, "oh...you're pregnant! when did that happen?" Which is a weird thing to say. So I said I was due in November and smiled...
Then we went to the grocery store last night and an older guy in the store saw me turn around after having my back to him and said, "whoa, mama!" I smiled and tried to ignore him while he went on to say "that must be a boy!" which JP thought was very funny. Luckily I have avoided a lot of random comments but I fear that this will become more common as I get bigger over these last few months. Things to look forward to...
And just for fun, a comparison between 10 weeks ago and this week since I unintentionally wore the same dress for photo day--quite a change in belly size!:
