The last week of the second trimester has gone smoothly and I am thankful for feeling healthy and energetic as all the websites are warning me that this will be the end of the 'honeymoon' trimester. Our little peanut has topped the two-pound mark and is now the size of a head of cauliflower. She is up over 14 1/2 inches in length from head to toe. According to the emails, her brain is continuing to develop and is becoming more active. She is still working on breathing movements in her lungs, is opening and closing her eyes, and possibly sucking on her fingers. She also has periods of sleeping and waking, and has developed a routine of being very active in the mid morning and after dinner if I am sitting quietly.
I am still feeling good and have been able to stay on track with my workout routine, and still feel like I have the same amount of energy for the gym. I wore the dress pictured above yesterday and had one new family I am working with be all excited since they felt I was clearly pregnant, while another woman in the waiting room (who I don't work with) at a different time, saw me and said, "oh...you're pregnant! when did that happen?" Which is a weird thing to say. So I said I was due in November and smiled...
Then we went to the grocery store last night and an older guy in the store saw me turn around after having my back to him and said, "whoa, mama!" I smiled and tried to ignore him while he went on to say "that must be a boy!" which JP thought was very funny. Luckily I have avoided a lot of random comments but I fear that this will become more common as I get bigger over these last few months. Things to look forward to...
And just for fun, a comparison between 10 weeks ago and this week since I unintentionally wore the same dress for photo day--quite a change in belly size!:
