We were unsure how things would go on our trip given that Abigail had never flown before. But, after helping us pack:
we got up early and headed to Phoenix on a Saturday morning. We were hoping Abigail would sleep on the trip but she only fell asleep when we were about 45 minutes from Phoenix. She woke up happy when we got off the freeway and enjoyed seeing her Great Uncle Bill, who drove us to the airport, and checking out the airport and all the people.
We found traveling with a child to be fairly smooth--the kids line at security was fast and people were friendly. We got through security without any trouble, passing the large family in front of us who seemed totally surprised when they had to take all their full sized liquids out of their carry on bags. Abigail was happy to eat a snack with me at the gate and then nursed on the take off. We were in the very last row of the plane with a family of three across the aisle and a woman in the window seat who said hello and observed how cute Abigail was, then put on her eye mask and fell asleep, so we had a good spot. Abigail napped for a little while then played with us before falling asleep right before we landed again. She even had a minor poop explosion but I was able to change her in the airplane bathroom without too much trouble.
While the way back was a little harder because we had to connect in Houston, Abigail really did well overall, seemed interested in all the new sights and people, and we were proud of her. Plus I was thankful that we didn't get any negative feedback for traveling with our little cutie!
