Things We're Loving Most Right Now:  We love how much you smile, are talking more, and are so happy to see us!

Things You're Loving Most Right Now: You are obsessed with your hands. They are your favorite things to munch on and explore, and you are learning to use them purposefully. You still love smiling and vocalizing with us.

Eating:  Ben has been eating very well and I am so thankful that nursing continues to be very positive overall. We had a slight hiccup right before I went back to work when I came down with mastitis, but I attribute that to Ben sleeping so much rather than any specific eating issue.  Ben does tend to favor long, slow, leisurely nursing sessions so I have gotten a lot of reading done, but am also savoring that time together.

Ben takes a bottle without complaint and does spit up at times but does so happily. It seems like he is nursing well and gaining weight and we will find out his actual weight at his next check up in November.

Sleeping:  Ben continues to be a very good sleeper. He is still taking three naps with the longest in the middle of the day. He usually wakes up between 2 and 4 am to eat and then goes back down easily.  He doesn't fall asleep so easily in the car or the carrier anymore, but will do so if the timing is right.  He continues to be able to fall asleep by himself for naps and at night. We are still putting him down for naps in the rock and play in his room and for night sleep in the bassinet in our room. At some point we need to get him into his bed, but he is doing so well that I don't feel much urgency.

Playing:  Ben continues to enjoy playing and socializing with us. He still really likes his activity mat but is actually able to hit the toys and "talk" to them with more intention than he used to. He is very interested in watching us and studying our faces and gives a beaming smile when we smile at him.  He will sometimes watch me even if JP or someone is holding him and I am nearby and talking.  We continue to work on tracking items, which he is getting good at, and tummy time, which is a little harder due to his big head. He does seem to have more overall head stability and trunk support so we are planning to get out the baby chair that Abigail had pretty soon.

Growth:  No check up this month so we will have to guess on his weight and growth. He seems to be continuing to put on length and rolls on his legs although he is still long and lean overall.  He is solidly in 3 month clothing and the long skinny things fit best. The one thing Ben does not like so far is getting his nails cut. It is the only activity we have found that makes him cry, so we try to do it as quick as we can!

The biggest change this month is that I had to go back to work the last week before Ben turned three months. Because our daycare did not have a spot until the following week, Ben was able to come to work with me the first few days, and spend a day with Mai Mai Mary, before getting ready to start at "school" right after he turns 3 months. I am thankful that my work was flexible enough to let me bring him and he charmed everyone there!
