Bienvenidos a Padre Fred! (Again!)

Last week, the community of Habitat and Miguel Pro welcomed back Father Fred Green, who had been in the States for some medical treatment for a while.  He returned last Wednesday, so we went to the airport to greet him along with several teachers, Habitat families, and students.  The school had the large banner you see above brought to the airport to welcome Fr. Fred, and then hung it up at school the next day. (It says: Father Fred: you are in the center of our hearts.)  Wednesday was a holiday for Alto de La Alianza, but when we returned on Thursday there was a presentation to welcome Fr. Fred back.

We started with a few words from the man himself:
There was a speech by one of the 6th graders, and then some musical numbers.  First, the little kids, the 4-year-old and 5-year-old rooms of preschool plus the first graders, sang Skita-marink-a-dink in English, since it includes, "I love you." Here they are on the "I" part:
Then they point to their hearts (no photo), and then to Fred on the "you":
(Of course, since they are so little, not everyone was totally on cue, but they are still cute!)

After that, we had the orchestra performing a song:
To close things out, the choir sang a song called "Cura de mi Pueblo" (Priest of my Town) that was written for Padre Fred. Here is the choir:
And here is a short video of one verse of the song:

Enjoy!

p.s. I hope the video works but I can't double check due to the security filters on the web (I can post but can't read our blog) so just in case here is the you tube link:
