We lucked into seeing the humongous tortoises during feeding time, so they were actually moving around instead of disguising themselves as rocks, which meant they were able to hold Abigail's attention briefly:
Abigail enjoyed looking at the birds close up again:
And Grandma was able to point out some of the bigger birds in their area:
Just when we were getting ready to leave, we stopped by the tiger area. The tigers have always been asleep when we have gone in the past, but this time we glimpsed a tiger on the move. Abigail and I got a good spot in case he came back...
And boom! There he came!
These are not the best pictures through the glass but you can see how big he was! His head was right at Abigail's eye level when he prowled by the glass, and she was excited and scared at the same time.
He prowled along the glassed part, left and came back several times. When he walked away, Abigail would say "mo mo" and sign for "more" and we asked the tiger to come back. Every time she came she got excited and scared and clung to me. It was our second close encounter in two weeks!
