We did not take many pictures then because we were trying to be impartial, but we got a few on Tuesday when the kids had a parade to show off their posters.
Here we have some of the posters from the older kids:
This one says "the right to live with my parents".
This one says "everyone should love and understand children".
This one says "a child has the right to enjoy a healthy diet, exericse, and medical services."
Now, on to the parade of little kids--I was on the side so it is kind of hard to see their posters, but the parade itself was entertaining.
The kids brought their bikes, trikes, or little plastic cars, many of which were attached to balloons, and went around the park and back to their classrooms. Here they are in front of the gate to the school.
It may be hard to see in the picture, but the girl in the hat in the center has her sign backwards on her trike, which is funny because when we were judging the signs, she also held it backwards so that she could see it but we could not, until we asked her to switch it around. :)
Many of the parents attended to admire their handiwork and some got very hands-on at the parade to avoid any parade accidents or injuries.
One final note: we are leaving tomorrow morning for a long weekend trip to Arequipa to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, so we won't be back on the blog until the middle of next week.
Cathleen, this is the most delightful blog! You do such a good job of the pictures and stories about life there in Tacna. I really look forward to your postings.
