Ilo

On Sunday we went to Ilo to visit my host family from my first month in Peru in 2003. Ilo is a port city about two hours away from Tacna. Upon arriving we went to the main plaza to call my host family about how to get to their house (they have moved since I lived with them).
Below is a picture of a cool building near the square. Can you guess what it is?

My host family has two boys, one is about 14 named Oscar and the other is 7 and named Andrés. It was Día Familiar at Oscar´s school so we went to eat lunch there (a big cookout) and then went to the little downtown area to see my host mom Sandra´s little clothing store and eat some dessert.

Above is a cool mosaic that was on the wall on the church at the main square. Sorry we didn't take more pictures but it was a cold day and we forgot we had the camera. We are planning to go back in December to go to the beach so hopefully we can take some then!
