Abigail's Baptism

A few weeks ago we celebrated Abigail's baptism up in Phoenix. It was an extended family affair, as we were able to coordinate things so that Abigail's cousin Gregory, who is two weeks older than her, could be baptized at the same time.  The ceremony was done by the Jesuit priest who married JP and I, Fr. Olivier, and took place at Brophy, the Jesuit high school where JP went and later taught, after mass so it was just family and friends.
Here is Abigail before Mass with JP and Uncle Patrick:
For the baptism, Abigail wore a dress that was made for my great-grandmother's baptism and was then worn by my grandmother, mother, and me.  She looked great, and it was quite the dress (with Grandpa Jim and Grandma Betty):

Here is a close up that shows some of the detailing on the dress:
Here is the big event:

Abigail fell asleep just as the baptism started but woke up a few minutes before she was actually baptized and did great! She seemed surprised and stretched her arms out when the water hit her head, but didn't fuss or yell or cry, she just seemed curious about what was happening.

And now, family pictures:
We were lucky to have JP's brother James and his wife Danielle agree to be Abigail's godparents. Here we are all together:
And here we are with cousin Gregory and his parents:
A nice picture outside with my parents, JP and I and the star of the show:
We thought Abigail might sleep after all the excitement, but she was entertained by hanging out in the carseat and was too cute not to be photographed:
After the baptism we had a party at JP's parents' house, which was great.  There were beautiful cakes for Abigail and Gregory made by Abigail's Aunt Stephanie (Gregory's mom):
Plus Abigail got to spend some more time hanging out with family:

Abigail took catnaps (as pictured above) throughout the day so we were worried she would have a rough night. However, she slept the whole ride back home and did okay the next night.  It was a really wonderful day!
