Abigail and I were heading out to Columbus via Phoenix and we were all scheduled to leave on Friday afternoon. It was a perfect plan, because I could wrap up work on Thursday, then we could head up in the morning and hang out in Phoenix at our in-laws, and have Abigail all relaxed and worn out by the time we got on the plane. However, the airline decided to change our tickets in late October so we had an early morning Friday flight. After debating for a little while, I realized that it was insane to try to get out of our house, drive the two hours, and make it to the airport on time and then sit on the plane for four hours, so we decided to come the day before.
Abigail was very helpful in getting ready on Thursday morning, putting her chosen toys and books in her monkey backpack and putting things in the suitcase for me. Then she was very confused when we got in the car to go to a half day of school and work, but we got through it. She was much happier when I picked her up after nap time and we got her monkey backpack ready to go:
It seemed like it took us forever to get to Phoenix but I think I was just impatient. Abigail fell asleep after about 30 minutes so it was a nice quiet drive.
Once we arrived, she perked up to play with Chelsea the dog and the swing set:
She also enjoyed hanging out with scamper the cat and Mai Mai Mary!
After initially refusing to go to sleep, we figured it out and rested up for our trip the next day.
