After our morning in Lima, we piled ourselves and all our bags into a little taxi for the bus station. We bought tickets on a ¨bus cama¨ (or bus with beds) for the 20 hour ride to Tacna, leaving in the mid afternoon and arriving the next morning. The bus left in the afternoon and even though the trip was long, it was really quite comfortable. The ¨bus cama¨ seats are a lot wider and more comfortable than an airplane, and are spaced much farther apart. They recline to about 160 degrees and there is a footrest you can add, so it is really pretty comfortable. There are also shades on the windows so you aren´t distracted by the lights on the highway. I wouldn´t say it was the best night of sleep I got, but it was much better than I expected.
Once we arrived, we were met at the bus station by Yamile, the wife of one of the teachers, who joined us in a taxi to our apartment. There is a small apartment attached to the chapel in the neighborhood where we are staying, right across from the school, Colegio Miguel Pro. Everyone has been very welcoming so far, very happy to see JP again and to meet me, ¨la esposa¨for the first time.
We are running out of time at the internet cafe but next time hope to share some photos of our cute little apartment and our neighborhood.
Hope everyone is doing well!
