Nuestra casa

As promised, here are some photos of our cozy little apartment. As I mentioned, we are adjacent to the chapel, but have a separate door to enter and exit. Here is the front door:

You enter into a small room that has nice yellow light from the windows that we are mostly using for a bookcase, laundry supplies, and workout space to do pilates and other fun exercises to stay in shape.
From this room, you climb a small flight of stairs to the main kitchen area, with the bathroom off to the left. We have a hot water tank for the shower so we have nice warm showers and cold water everywhere else.

Below, you can see JP at work in our kitchen set up. We have all the basics, including a gas-connected hot plate with two burners. The only obvious exception is no oven, but we already know a few people in town, including the JVs, who would be happy to let us come over and cook as long as they get some of the results.

Then, from the kitchen, you climb the spiral-type staircase to reach our upstairs loft bedroom.

We have a built in dresser and closet, and another small dresser too, along with lots of hooks for things and a ledge that is handy for storage. JP wants to put the computer on the ledge but I am afraid of the fall. If you look at the pictures, you may notice the bed looks a little small--and you would be right! When we first got here, there was only a single bed in the loft so we slept very cozily the first few nights. JP was convinced that there was a double bed in the other small apartment that is used for visitors to the school, but unfortunately he was wrong. :( However, we did end up taking another single bed from the other apartment, removing our bed frame, and now have two single mattresses on the floor pushed together. As JP says, it is ¨sleepover style¨ but we are happy to have more space.

And here is the view out our upstairs window:

We are catty-corner from the school so we can hear the orchestra practice and the loudspeaker announcements if we are home during the day.

Overall we are feeling pretty settled in our cute, cozy apartment. We did laundry (by hand) for the first time this week and things went pretty smoothly. We are also getting started on our projects--more on those next time.
