Nicknames: Holding steady with sunshine, munchkin, favorite baby, and sweet pea
Temperament: happy, curious, playful, silly, proud of herself as she figures out new things, only fussy when overly tired
Item/Toy We Love The Most: The weather that lets us spend so much time outside, shoes, plus the stroller and the rubber ducky song
Things We're Loving Most Right Now: seeing how you problem solve, watching you smile at yourself when you realize you can do something or we praise you, your laugh, your sense of humor, your good appetite
Things You’re Loving Most Right Now: walking, being outside, eating food with mom and dad
Eating: We
are still on about the same schedule for foods as last
month: 4 solid meals and 5 or 6 nursing sessions, which are getting
shorter. We switched to a sippy cup for breastmilk at school in the
middle of the month to prepare for the toddler room transition and
Abigail did well with that. She continues to enjoy eating table foods
and we very rarely use baby purees anymore, although she does like
gerber puffs and baby yogurt. Abigail is still especially interested in
whatever we are eating.
Sleeping: Abigail's
sleep continues to be up and down. At night she will go down easily
but then wake up a few times. She got sick in the middle of the month
and it seemed to throw off her sleep for a few weeks, including while we
were traveling over thanksgiving. She was starting to get back to her
pattern of waking up once to eat at the end of the month. There are
many days where she only takes one 20-30 minute
nap at daycare, but on the days when she takes two, we can tell because
she can hold it together a little longer in the evenings. The toddler
room has one established nap time so we will see how she does with
that.
Playing:
Abigail's play has been significantly affected by her improving ability
to walk throughout the course of the month. Now that she is a good
independent walker, she loves to spend time wandering around the house
and getting in to everything. She loves going outside even more too! We
have been able to play more on the playground too but makes us nervous
sometimes because she knows how to walk but doesn't know to be careful
about drop offs on the playground big toys. Abigail continues to like
books and is starting to enjoy putting things into containers and taking
them out again too. We are having lots of fun with her.
Growth:
We went for Abigail's check up the week after her birthday and she is
30 3/8" tall and weighs just over 20 lbs! She continues to be in the
high 80s percentile-wise for height and this is the first time that she
was over 50th percentile for weight. She had to get some shots, and
yelled, but is doing great overall. Abigail is wearing almost all 12
month sized clothing with some 18 month mixed in, but the 18 month pants
are often good in length but a little baggy.
Abigail
is starting to say a few words, including "da da", "haa" (hot), "dog",
and "yeah". She babbles a lot and her receptive language is getting
better all the time. She continues to laugh a lot and it is so fun to see her sense of humor continuing to evolve.
