I had posted earlier about Abigail eating dried chili lime mangoes but they pale in comparison to the original article that we got to have during our trip:
One of my favorite things at Rocky Point is mangoes! While we sit on the beach, vendors walk by with a whole variety of things, offering bracelets, jewelry, sunglasses, hats, wooden carvings, maracas, hair braiding or massages, to name a few. But the best vendor is the mango lady, who lugs a cooler on wheels through the sand and will sell you delicious mangoes right out of the cooler.
When we were there, there was enough traffic that the mango lady just parked in front of our complex, so we were able to find her easily. When you order a mango, she peels it with a machete, puts a stick through the pit, and then cuts the flesh in a pretty flower pattern to make it easier to eat. You then can choose to have it plain, with lime juice, or with lime juice and chili powder. I was skeptical of the chili at first but I am now a convert.
We were not sure what Abigail would want so the first day we got one mango with lime only, and another with the full chili lime experience.
Guess which one she picked?
She did have some help to get to the pit but she liked it a lot!
